Damn too early on that last reply, the spollink :) is awful, I don`t
actually know why but windows will not even do 1280x1024 on this
monitor ( Ahem!! sorry no windows here cough!! :)

I do not want to start windows bashing ( and this is not a rant or
anything ) but this machine can handle my TV card and USB camera but
win2k throws a right wobbly and none of them work, I have tried
everything but no chance if both are present at boot.

Now don`t get me wrong, it took a couple of weeks to get them both
working under "linux" but at least "I" could.

To answer your last Q though I must answer " I don`t know"

Linux does however "bang the hardware" a lot more than windows, that is
why some stuff works and others don`t.
