The sad thing is other people said they used my combination...
Athlon 64 3200+
MSI K8MM
...with 64bit SuSE without problems either. For me, though, there were
problems. No idea why, but I really didn't want to spend the time
troubleshooting the memory (which came up fine in Memtest) or the
motherboard. I'd already done about 20 installs. With/without AGP card. On
one hard drive, on the other. With/Without CD burner also attached. I know
that seems silly, perhaps, but I once got file corruption on a SuSE 9.1
install and the culprit was a PCI USB card (one of those cards that gives
you extra USB ports). So my experience with 9.1 and ReiserFS has been that
many things that seem totally illogical can cause the system to lock up or
go T-up. I didn't want to go through that again. I just went back to what
worked, slapped a Zalman fan on it and I'm back working again.
