I use GQView to watch slideshows and then edit the photos in GIMP.
GQView is the closest to IrfanView that I've found in Linux, but it's
not identical. It only will do slideshows from one directory.
It also doesn't save photos, just displays them. If you're looking for
a program that will allow you to save a photo in another format there
are Kuickshow and Gwenview. Of course, any actual graphics
editor--I already mentioned GIMP--will display and save images, if
you're not looking for a slideshow.
I've been hoping IrfanView gets ported to Linux. Unlike apparently
everyone else in the world, I've never been able to get it working
correctly under WINE.
