Read any review and Mozilla is mentioned (not Suse).

No he wouldn't. Firefox isn't a made by Suse.
He might click an aptly named "firefox download" if it were even
mentioned in his search result, but it's not even mentioned on the
"home user downloads page":
http://www.suse.com/us/private/download/index.html
nor is there any mention of new applications or where to find a list
of which ones one can download from Suse as opposed to from the
originator.

(Eer, the version one gets from mozilla would be a more up to date
one, a newbie wouldn't know what "i586" or "rpm" meant and Firefox is
way over 7k)
THIS is "the" download page:

Where is a newbie told what an "rpm" is? Why should a newbie even HAVE
to know what an rpm is?

Eer, might that be because links to some are not included with Suse?
I would say the main reasons utter newbies (the ones you are referring
to) first get a puter is to type letters and emails, find information
and/or filth, download music and play games.
The vast majority of *Linux* newbies are windows users, who wouldn't
go to Microsoft to download Firefox.
