Can someone explain the pros/cons of using the standard suse 9.1
supermount and switching to autofs (automount).
What seems very strange to me is that other distos have no problem
finding and mounting my usb hdd or flas drive stick, they even find the
card reader and all I have to do is insert the card or memory stick the
the reader and it mount and an icon appears on the desktop and in some
cases opens a file nav window. With Suse 9.1 all these devices have to
be configured by hand and in the case of the flash drive if I put it in
a different usb slot it won't work at all. I have always had this
problem with Suse.
This was just recently brought to mind when I was looking at a new
distro Ubuntu, I installed on the very same machine and it found all
these devices and all I had to do was plug them in.
I even tried install Suse with the devices plugged in and they still
were not configured.
There maybe an easy way to do this in Yast but I'm not familar with the
procedure.
If these type of devices were configured automaticly it should would
make Suse more main stream.
