Looks that way.

The machine is dual boot, and it does matter for the FX5700, it was
initially set to 128MB (it went in the machine that had the Ti4600
originally), but it is a 256MB card. The machine just locks up under
Windows. It had me cursing and swearing when I first installed it, then I
remembered the apeture size...

Nope, the only relevant command in /usr/bin is nvidia-installer .

LOL, OK, I'll look into it later... In the middle of a report at the moment
that I have to get out this evening, so I'll have put my nose to the
grindstone, as it were. Little irrelevances like this will have to take a
back seat for a while...

The machine will probably go to 9.2 when I get around to buying a copy and
having the time to install it, so I'll wait until then and see if it makes
a difference.

Out of interest, what sort of values do you get from glxgears?
