Steve,
The error message you are getting is related to a package called
kdebase3-extra. Make sure you have that installed. I had the same problem
on my 9.1 install when I upgraded KDE to 3.3.1.
I don't think this is related to your network problem. Follow AC's advice
and check the network settings with YAST.
