Yes, the vertical sync rate is what I meant. (Common British English is Scan
Rate, sorry for the confusion).
The Digital monitors I used (1994/1995) were badged 17" Sony Trinitron
displays.
I came across a similar problem yesterday on a clients Windows 2000 machine,
for some reason, the monitor/graphics card just stopped working at 85Hz,
which it has been doing for the last 5 years! The display was squashed in
the centre of the screen and had a huge curve out to the right. Messing
with the monitor settings didn't help.
I had to drop the scan rate down to 75Hz. This still left the image in the
middle of the screen, but more or less straight on each side. I then had to
use the monitor controls to expand the image to fit the screen properly.
