Interesting that you noticed the connection between the firewall and your
problem. I likewise noticed that during boot my NetGear wireless has a
steady link light, until it gets to the firewall section where it goes
intermittent (and apparently in synch with the cd light, but I might be
imagining this).
This problems started to manifest after I installed the latest update as per
the Suse watcher. The update was done without a problem, but on boot I had
lost all network configuration. Further, during the boot sequence I now
notice anumber of IRQ conflict problems that were not there before (or I
had not noticed). I am a complete newbe at this, and I think that it is
joke to expect me to be worrying about all this stuff. This has been a
disaster; I am migrating from Windows 95, dualboot to Windows NT, and Suse
8.2. All was Ok before 9.2.
Thanks
