I am putting together a windows box using and Athlon 64 and would like
to make it a dual boot system with Linux SuSE 9.2.
I have not been able to find a good hardware compatibility list. Can
anyone comment on the following components:
Motherboard: ASUS K8N-E with an Athlon 64 3400+ Is there any chance
of getting sound with the on=board Realtek ALC850? I hope to use the
on-board Raid 1 with mirrored disks. I saw some messages that
indicated this might not work under Linux - what happens if windows is
using Raid 1 on its partitions and Lnux is not?
Video Card: The store recommended an ATI 9800 Pro, which includes a TV
input. The ATI web site indicates that they have Linux drivers for
the 32 bit version of Linux, but not yet for the 64 bit version.
I've seen some indications that I might be better of with a GeForce FX
5900 video card and a separate Hauppauge PVR 250 TV card.
DVD burner. Sony 710A (or LiteOn DVD-RW 16x, which is supposedly a
cheaper version of the Sony) or a Plextor 12x
Thanks in advance
