I wouldn't call current statements about the middle of January a few
weeks :/

ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.2/README.txt includes:

I know they don't have to make the binaries available, but I really
dislike the twisted choice of words. They imply it isn't available now
due to a need for continued work on their part. Surely the delay is
purely for perceived commercial gain?

Also, since Novell's involvement, hasn't the delay between commercial
release & ftp release increased significantly? It seems to have gone
from 4-6 weeks to three months :/
