Ah, you see you don't have to shout at experienced users. It's strange
what you can find when you google properly!

Or perhaps learn a bit more about installing from tar balls, which will
effectively mean that he will need to learn more about administering a
system and perhaps a bit about development.
Guess it just goes to show that tried and tested method of installing
software just does not work for people used to double clicking windows
install file :-)
