IME, generally true, through around SuSE 9.0. Whenever I used YaST "Install
and Remove Software" to add a window manager (for me, typically olvmw/olwm)
it was added automagically to the KDM login manager's "Session" menu.

Also, 9.0 (IIRC) had a Session tab added to the KDE Control Center

               Control Center->Login Manager->Sessions

allowing window managers to be added to the KDM login Session menu, too.

Both approaches seemed to go missing in 9.1--window managers added via YaST
weren't automagically updated for the KDM Session menu, and the Session tab
vanished in Control Center's Login Manager. SuSE support wasn't helful with
any of this, but The Esteemed SuSE Group here was. :)

As I reported in this thread <slrncr8jt0.a1r.wyrd@aces.localdomain>:

:I found there's more, thanks to Martin Tessun, who was kind enough to look
:at this and suggest a fix in <c9qv68$vjg$1@online.de>:
:
: Oh yes, just digged a little bit deeper. In the new KDE there are new
: kdm-configuration-files.
:
: Have a look at /opt/kde3/share/apps/kdm/sessions
: There already should be an "olvwm.desktop"-file.
: Edit this file accordingly:
:
:
: Type=XSession
: Exec=olvwm (or /path/to/olvwm)
: TryExec=olvwm (or /path/to/olvwm)

Martin's tip was very helpful (thanks, Martin!) and has fixed the KDM login
Session menu for me twice now (versions 9.1 and 9.2).

Kevin, email me (sig below) if you think this can be helpful in the FAQ and
need any clarification.

If SuSE support monitors this group: this dropped facility is a significant
annoyance to me.
