OK heres the plan my man. You have it down loaded sitting on your
desktop tbird 1.0 with a .tar.gz extension.
Now open a terminal and copy the file from the desktop to your home
directory. You either do it via the gui or use the cp command.
once it is in your home folder. then type gzip -d
thunderbird-1.0.tar.gz
now tar -xvf thunderbird-1.0.tar
now type cd thunderbird
and to run type ./thunderbird
Next off, you will probably want to put a short cut on the desktop for
quick access. so right click on the desktop go create new -> file ->
link to application. Now click on application tab and select browse
now go to home, now open up thunderbird, and select the thunderbird
file. Go back to general and change the icon, if you choose to browse
and go to the thunderbird folder, their is a folder in their called
icons. choose the icon called moz50. now your done.
