Hi, Group
Either advice on soundcards from a professional, or advice on professional
soundcards..
I'm looking a decent internal (PCI) soundcard for use with SuSE 9.1
(64bit). Should be capable of normal audio playback (Internet radio, DVD,
gaming..) but main reason for purchase is a little more demanding.
My project for 2005 is to create a real-time multi-stage guitar effects
processor (sort of a pedalboard for the 21st century). I have an onboard
Via AC97 chipset but it's not really up to the job.
My knowledge of hardware is pretty limited to say the least, so the
only alternatives I've come up with are:
Soundblaster Audigy2 Platinum
Terratec DMX 6Fire 24/96
Are there any gotchas with either of these cards? Are there alternatives
I haven't looked at. I want to record both the input and output streams
into a wav/mp3/ogg file as part of the project - will one soundcard be
enough?
TIA
