I solved it by providing a local apt repository:
1. Copy the DVD to a tree on your server that you export (NFS, HTTP, FTP)
2. Install apt4rpm on the server (and apt on the clients) following the
HowTo: http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/
3. Mirror an apt repository of your liking, I use ftp.gwdg.de.
Only mirror the repositories that you really need to save bandwidth and
disk space (and to avoid confusion for some;-). I use rsync to mirror.
4. Make your repository accessible to your LAN with your preferred method.
I am using NFS and HTTP, though any is ok.
5. Write a script to sync your repository during low access times (ie. at
night) and place it in your crontab. 6. Write a script that lets you
update all boxes in one go, using ssh.
There are ways to YaST-ify your repository, but I don't really like YaST
update anyway.
