I think that maybe 9.1 personal might not include gnome on the cd (??)

Anyway, even with 9.1 prof I found that my default install options did
not apparently include gnome, or enough of it to show up recognisably
(to me) in the log-on menu.

I installed a number of gnome related files via yast. (These were in
fact on the 9.1 prof CDs). I could have downloaded them I suppose (?).

Without gnome things installed, at logon, I see:
menu, session type;
default custom FVWM KDE TWM windowmaker admin failsafe

With gnome things installed I see:
menu, session type;
default custom FVWM GNOME KDE TWM windowmaker admin failsafe

I notice that the number of items to be installed for a full yast
activity for gnome is over 80, although it did not take very long. I do
not know how many files I would have needed to download if I had done it
via 'download'.

Having said all this, my first look at gnome did not lead to me using it
at all. In my newbiness, I still prefer kde. Maybe when the ghosts of
another OS that cannot be named have faded for me, I will appreciate the
big G more?
