| gateway 600xl laptop. yeah I'm a bit masochist. I used apt/synaptic and
| got the RPMs from the unstable repsitory. So far things are great.
| KDE runs even sanppier then before.. Some of the new (at least to me)
| apps are good, and for the first time I've gotten K Menu to be
| semi-transparent. It looks really cool.
|
| Two minor downsides: Shutdown or reboot, when first selected seems to
| take forever. At first I thought it gone into never-never land and was
| going to force it to shutdown, when it went into shutdown. Seemed like
| over a minute, I'll time it if anyone would like. The next one is
| really, really pickey.. In the tray I have it set to transparent with a
| really dark background. With the execption of system tray it works
| great. For some reason the background in system tray is smeared. It
| fixes if I miminize the panel and then reopen it.
|
| And one minor irratation: Deleting a file bypassing the trash can is no
| longer on the right-click menu. Probably just have to find how to turn
| it on.
|
| Not sure if I notice any difference with the 2.6.10 kernal, funny thing
| is that once I did the dual upgrade the system could no longer find the
| NFS that I have setup. I can connect to the internet, so I know that my
| wireless mini-PCI card is working. Like before the upgrade it is being
| set to eth1. I've uninstalled NFS and later today I'll reinstall it. The
| upgrade didn't affect cups printing. I print to a printer connected to
| my desktop, running suse 9.2 stable only.
|
| Also the suse boot screen went away again. I kinda miss the little
| progress bar at the bottom. This happened before (under 2.4) when I used
| an unstable kernal. I just can't remember the fix.. No big deal.. All
| the hardware (DVD burner, wireless network, wireless mouse etc..) seem
| to work great...
Crap that should have been 3.3.9.1
