My home file server runs Suse 9.0 and has an Adaptec 3400S raid controller.
It works nicely, except currently the only way to monitor/manage the
raid 5 array is to reboot and access the raid controller BIOS. This is a
PITA because the server runs headless, so I have to cart a monitor and
keyboard down to the basement to access the BIOS.
Adaptec Storage Manager is available for Suse 7.0, but doesn't install
on my system:
# rpm -ivh sm_linux_v314_install.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
dptdriver is needed by dptapps-3.14-2
libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 is needed by dptapps-3.14-2
#
Is there any possibility of installing Storage Manager? Or another way
to manage raid without shutting down?
(Adaptec is only supporting Storage Manager on Red Hat these days, so
asking them would be a waste of time)
TIA
Sunny
