networking through the serial port

I have Windows 2000 connected to a lan getting its IP address from
DHCP. Can anyone point me to a good tutorial on how to connect a SuSE
Linux box through the serial port so I can browse the SuSE box through
SMB and run a remote desktop from the the XP box.
