Hi Doug
A tutorial? Sorry cant help
Connecting them isnt a big deal though.
- Assuming you have a null modem serial cable
- Setup the serial port on the Linux box to go straight to PPP auth. You
will need to modify /etc/inittab so that mgetty initialises the right
COM port and then listens on it. mgetty also uses a config file that can
either prompt you for a login (like telnet over the wire) or go straight
to pppauth. Not sure where that file resides in later SuSE versions
- pppauth then starts up pppd with a parametr file (in /etc/ppp) that
defines source and destination IP address. You can drop the use of auth
of you like and use a login script called from the terminal prompt. For
this you'll need to create a small login script on the XP box
Apologies for the brevity. If you want to do this in slow learning steps
get back to me and I'll walk you through it.
Cheers Bob
