The easiest way i found was to use a win 98 startup disk, use FDISK and
remove all partitions on the target HD (on both if you don't mind),
including the non-dos partitions. No need I think to re format or
anything, suse etc install will take to it like a duck to water. YOu
will not believe how fast the linux format is, in the install process. :-)
It probably will just install into the 4G HD, with not much if any to
spare, but it will be ok to be starting with. It is subsequently easy to
set up the other HD later and do more elegant things such as use it or a
swap file, but as as newb I would not want to try it too early. I did
and had a lot of fun screwing up :-)
If win 98 startup disk is not to hand (but from the 'doze background I
had them knee deep....) It is also easy to use a Cd from an iso downlaod
of something like ultimate boot CD or similar - many such will do
partition surgery etc.
Have fun. Linux only gets better.
