Yea I agree!
Mandrake+Suse would be one hell of a killer distro!
FWIW Mandrake found my Nvidia card ok as did Suse, but Suse tripped
on it IF I installed the Nvidia update along with all the other
updates at the same time, from a stock install.
I had to edit xorg/xf86 by hand and change nv to nvidia.
However, if I did all the updates EXCEPT nvidia and then nvida after,
it worked fine.

Yes it was and I'm not sure what Suse did, but 9.2 is turbocharged
where 9.1 was merely *ok* on my system.
Not bad, but not great either.
FWIW others have reported the opposite and I can appreciate that as
well.
It all depends.

I agree completely.

Personally I think apt is the future but and apt does exist for Suse
but after a bad experience I stay away because it doesn't seem to
play nice with Yast.
The Yoper synaptic system is tops from what limited experience I
have.
It just seems to work and when conflicts do occur the messages are
meaningful and point toward a solution instead of just saying "it
didn't work".

Suse truly is a professional system and I urge anyone searching for a
Linux distro to give it a try.
There are many great Linux distributions out there, but for me Suse
is tops and I have tried quite a few over time (more than this
message indicates).a
