Sound works only in amarok but not in other apps??

I habe installed SuSE 9.2 and let detect the Sound Card via YAST.
It detected:

82801DB/DBL/DBM (ich4/ich4-l/ich4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller

I enabled the "[x] start sequencer" option.

The status is "running".

When I try to play a sound, it does not work in XMMS or many other sound
tools but in amarok its okay. Uses KDE it's own sound system?
I installed Skype and it does not play any sound and cannot use the
sound card. Maybe there is set a wrong sound device. How can determine
the sound device, that amarok uses?

Maybe you have any other ideas to make my sound working in all apps?
