kmenu

I am using KDE with suse 9.1 and I am getting some behavior from my
kMenu that I can't explain. When I open the kMenu for edit, I see
different links then when I just click on the "start" menu. What is
funnier, sometimes I see the other half of the menus that were missing.

It looks like there are 2 config files that it could be reading from
and merging it somehow. Anyone have any idea where to look for some
clues? Where is the configuration file for the kMenu placed? I have
spent some time searching but did not find anything that helped.

thanks in advance.
