Because I regularly had crashes of Konqueror I installed KDE 3.4. So far no
crashes, however the KDE startup and logout sounds do not play. This is
true for SuSE 9.0 and SuSE 9.2.
Also in KDE-menu, "Control Center", "Sound & Multimedia" and "System
Notifications", in this window select in "Event source" "KDE System
Notifications" and in there "KDE is starting up" then clicking on the
arrow/trangle in front of the filename of the sound to be played the sound
will not be heard. However in selecting "Sound System" and in "General"
"Test Sound" the sound is heard.
Also installation of KDE 3.3 had problems with this sound and installation
of the newest artsdriver did solve that problem. Did not try to build the
newest arts. Work in progress....
Anybody already has a solution?
