Dear Susers,
I'm asking you some advice regarding the /media directory. I'm used to
the 2.4 kernel of slackware, I'm running suse 9.2 with 2.6 kernel since
a few days, and some never seen things happen ;=)
If i boot with the USB memory card plugged in, I find the directory
/media/usb-UrDisk-USBFLASHDISK:0:0:0p1.
It seems that any user can read/write on the usb card, without the need
of mounting anything. Good.
Questions:
a) what I'm supposed to do before removing the usb card, and take it
away? Should I give some unmount-like instruction?
b) what's about the fstab, that does *not* have any entry related to
/media/usb.... ?
At the beginning, I created the entry
/dev/sda1 /mnt/removable vfat noauto,users,rw 0 0
and each time I mounted and unmounted the card.
By, now that I discovered the /media directory, such a mount point is
perhaps useless......it is just enough to remove the entry from
fstab,ad symlink /mnt/removable to /media/usb.... (I'm not still used
to type cd /media.... :=).... Am i right?
regards
G.
