I was just reading about this in Linux Format issue 65. According to
LXF they had the same problem in Xandros 3.

Here is what LXF did to get Kino to work. "Working around this simply
involves adding the usernames of those who need access to the device to
the group 'disk.' This can be done by editing the file /etc/group so
that the 'disk' entry looks something like this: disk:x:6:andy,
someone_else, an_other. This will need to be done as root. With that
done we can get to work and fire up Kino."

What the above means, I don't know. I'm new to Linux.
