Our average turn-around time (from First Call to Solution) was 15 minutes!
This incluided calls that had to go to Second Tier. Now, if we could do
this with Windows, what do you suppose would happen w/Linux? If you had a
staff that was well trained you could probably spend 15-30 minutes per
call. That is TOO much for an IT department. After 20 Mins we were to turn
the call over to Second Tier.

The biggest problem I could see with Linux is, as I mentiuoned,
associating apps. Ok, look in OPt. Now USR. Now...

Too confusing. Of course, you would be running the same distro on all
boxes, but the average user has a hard enough time with "Programs" and My
Documents, let alone Home Directory, ETC, USR, et al. "OK, now let's edit
Whatever.conf. You'll have to switch to Root to do this. Oh, yeah. We WANT
everyone to have access to Root...

It's NOT that tough...

All your configs are in one spot, including printers, Network, etx. Linux
has gotten better, but not for Prime Time. If you're trying to implement a
Help Desk, you either need knowledgable people sitting at desktops, or a
good On-Site staff.

Not Allowed. Like some misbehaving kid! Not far from actuality! I like it!

BTW, mine is RARELY on the 'net!
