... it's in the best interest of the user to use
a live CD distro, such as knoppix or mepis, and
be sure nothing gets mounted that's on the drive
you want to partition.
personally, i do all my 'fdisk' work right online
while booted on off the hard drive ... i dont
recommend doing this, unless you're someone as me
that lives on the [computer] edge :) of course,
if i have to do work pertaining to a partition(s)
that HAS to be mounted (like /), then i use a
live CD.
