I just installed a new system with SuSE 9.2. I have a small lan and use
telnet to access this machine. I'm experiencing a problem I never faced
with any of the previous versions of SuSE.
What happens is, at random times, when I telnet to the 9.2 system, I get
the "Welcome to SuSE Linux 9.2...." but instead of getting the login
prompt, it immediately says "Connection closed by foreign host".
If I immediately retry, I'll usually get a login prompt (although
sometimes, it'll take 3 or 4 attempts).
Strangely enough, it seems like if I add a "-D options" argument, the
"Connection closed by foreign host" never happens. Also, it seems like
the more I telnet, the less likely the problem occurs.
Anyone else experience anything like this?
