I'm experiencing a problem with telnet under SuSE 9.2. I have a local
lan that I use to access the 9.2 machine through telnet. The problem
I'm experiencing is, every so often when I try to telnet I get the
standard "Welcome to SuSE Linux 9.2..." but instead of getting the
Login prompt, I get "Connection closed by foreign host". If I simply
retry, I typically get the login prompt (although sometimes it takes
3 or 4 times).
I've never seen anything like this with earlier versions. PLUS, I've
tried this on two different computers with the same result.
I could move to ssh, but all computers are already setup for telnet,
plus it's only a private network.
Oh, also I went in and added a "-D options" argument, and while that
option was turned on, it never failed. I don't really want to run
that way permanently, but thought that was weird as well.
Any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.
