While your article may sound like a troll, I can back up your experience, if
only by adding some caveats.

On the same hardware, Kubuntu is a bit faster and much more responsive.
However, Kubuntu does not offer YAST, even though much of what Yast offers
is avialable through a combination of:

Kynaptic/Synaptic (I installed Synaptic because it is a little more mature)

KCron

KUser

Kprinter, the network manager that is built into the Kde control center.

While I was predispose not to like Kubuntu, because of all the hype that I
had heard about Ubuntu, it is truly a pleasure to use and it has also
breathed new life into my older hardware.

It probably still requires a bit more knowledge than Suse, but not a whole
lot more.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, I now have a combination of Debian, Mandrake,
Suse and Kubuntu on my network. Which makes for lots of "fun" and keeps
things interesting.

As the need arises, we may eventually begin to consolidate on one or two
distributions.
