It is of course interesting that many many people have gotten everything
you have problems with to work, without problems. Ie, there would seem to
be something wrong with a) your computer, b) your installation, c) you.
Note that the 3 GHz chips are very sensitive WRT temperature. Ie, you cpu
could be bacly overheating (eg On one system I had the cpu temp went up to
150C. ) Such overheating can certainly give symptoms like the ones you are
experiencing.
