<snip>

Hi all back , sorry about the late ness of the post i've been away for a
few weeks and just got back on me adsl aswell i've done like everyone else
has suggested , i've removed the nvidia card and just had it on the
onboard graphics chip and suse is still slow but once it's up and running
for a bit it's fine because i'm not running kde 3.3 i'm using window Maker
and it's fine but a little slow also when i boot the machine up i get a
white cursor @ the top left of the screen for about 5 or 6 secs and then a
beep that i didnt get before and when i used to shut down the machine i
used to get 2 beeps from my machine that i dont anymore and it turns off
in a flash if i push the reset or the power button before it used to take
about 5 secs of holding the power button in before it turned off , i dont
know if that's anything to do with it. Also im not on a network like ian
brown asked. all i've got plugged into the pci slots on the motherboard is
a network card with my creative broadband blaster ADSL router eitherneted
into the network card via DCHP plus the nvidia card in the AGP slot that's
all , the machine spec is as follows if that helps

Intel motherboard
Intel Celrol p3 633
10.3 GIG hardrive
192 Meg of Ram (1x128mg PC133 & 2 32mg PC100) All working
64 Mg AGP NVIDIA MX4000 Graphics card
350 watt power supply (Tested and working)
SONY dvd ROM (4got what speed that is)
IBOX 16x dual layer DVD-RW

the white cursor is even there when i've got the nvidia card in or jsut
using the onboard graphics , also been getting when it comes up with the
suse menu to choose what os to boot up instead of it appearing straight
away it scrolls down then goes off for a couple of secs then comes on
again. I'm not gonna be using this machine for much longer mind you as
i'm getting a new one on Tuesday :-) machine specs follow's

AMD durron 1.2mg Chip
10.3gig harddrive
52x CD-ROM
128 mg Of Ram
motherboard i dont know what it comes with yet as it's a pc that me
friends selling

i'm gonna be updating the cpu to a durron 1.8 straight away and using all
the other compontats that's in this machine like the network card,128mg Of
ram, The dvd and the dvd-rw and the graphics card also gonna be getting a
40 or 80gig harddrive aswell. but havent a clue what to do with this
shitty box that's left over , what can you do with a p3 633 , 2x 10.3gig
hard-drives , 64 meg of ram? i know if i got another 2 network cards i
could use the box as as a router/firewall but havent a clue how to set
that up , is there any linux firewall's / Router os that can be installed
and left to it's own device without having to have a moniter/Keyboard &
mouse connected to the box and accessing from the new machine. sorry
about not getting in contact sooner
