In an other thread in this ng ('YaST won't work'), Bruce Stewart gave an
excellent description of how to investigate network connection problems.
Maybe that helps?
I also found that the 'update name servers and search list via dhcp' option
can cause trouble if the dhcp-server does not provide a valid search list.
