Squid doesn't read squid.conf (fully) at boot

Hi All,

Can anyone suggest why Squid (2.5Stable3-112) on Suse 9.0 Pro would fail
to read the entry 'ident_timeout 1 seconds' in squid.conf during system
startup but read it successfully during 'rcsquid restart'? Or possibly a
more sensible way to avoid the long delay incurred by its failing to
complete IDENT lookups?
