I have a dual boot PC (xpee, suse 9.1). 'Doze and Suse are on different
HDs. Default boot at present happens to be 'doze on that PC.
I want to remove the suse HD and replace it with a larger one, and
reinstall suse as 9.2 from scratch, still ending up with a dual boot pc
with the 'doze still in one piece.
Presumably grub resides on the 'doze HD (?) , and anyway it expects to
see the existing (small) suse HD. Also I guess that just changing the
suse HD to a blank HD awaiting installation is probably going to cause
trouble (?). Am I correct in thinking that just (only) removing the suse
HD will probably now prevent 'doze from booting too?
If direct hd change is -not- going to cause trouble, it would be ok to
go this route, but the pc is not mine and the cunning plan is to
seamlessly move to linux in stages - the user is looking on linux more
favourably now, but needs doze to minimize detox effects..... so I do
not want anything to go wrong and give a bad impression :-)
I would appreciate suggestions about the sequence of activities etc I
should best follow for an elegant change, with as low risk as possible.
I will have backups, but the pc needs the 'doze at present and it is a
real pain to reinstall.
