OK, I got it right (finally):
1) I downloading from the Western Digital (disk brand), a software to scan
(for defaults) and it necesarry fix (map out) bad sectors.
Did not find a bad sector.
Using a CDROM based Knoppix, I did reformat the volume ("mkfudsfs"), and the
ran again the "xfs_repair" utility.
I then still got a couple of error... the first time, but at the second
pass, it ran clean. Now my system is much faster too (retries were slowing
down the system).
Could it be that the SUSE install do not reformat an XFS a partition which
is already formatted as such?
Also it would make sense to only install SUSE on an healthy partition
(xfs_check for ex.) which is obviously not the case.
_Conclusion_: SuSE could/ (should?) enhance it support for XFS partitions:
better detect, better install, better check.. and possible fix.
AFC3.
