Hi Sam;

I am in the final stages of switching to linux, and I have also difficulties
successfully installing. Years ago my Redhat 5.2 (I think) installed fine,
but I didn't have much time to play with it so I lost interest. Last month,
I tried again and was successfull with Suse linux, and it works fine. Mind
you I had to try 4 other flavours of linux before I found one that would
install for me, and being a newbie, I just concider that the cost (I gladly
payed for 3, and downloaded the other one) of getting started.

Just try other distrobutions of linux, I am sure that you will find one that
more accuratly detects your hardware and have fun!
