9.3 pppd dies exit code 2 (smartlink modem)

Got a quick question. My mother just installed 9.3. With 9.1, her
smartlink modem worked fine, but she couldn't get it to connect to the
internet, so she calls me. I have her look at the config files and
there are a bunch of connecting/disconnected and at the end it says
"pppd died" and "exit code 2". I did a little research and found that
there was a patch for this for 9.2. Does anyone know if that patch will
work with 9.3? Pretty much it was a patch to get the slamr module
started so that slmodemd would load. The modem she has is fully
compatible according to SuSE so I just wanted to find out if this patch
will fix the problem for her. Does anyone know? And, if not, what will
fix it? Thanks in advance.
