Basically, if you use a domain that is not yet registered, at some point
somebody may register it. When they do so they *may* find that they get
inordinate amounts of spam as addresses at the domain will have been culled
over time from Web usenet clients. Even though they will not have users
with the same name (someone) as soon as they switch on a mailserver at that
domain, a thousand spammers will connect to try to send it spam.

In short it is considered impolite and bad form to publish (including post
in usenet) an email address that does not belong to you, whether or not
anyone owns it at present.

There is a top level domain that is set up specifically for this purpose
that you are free to use and that will never 'belong' to anyone. Suffix
your email address in your newsreader with .invalid and you'll get less
flames about it from other users.
