I thought I might make further mention of this...

I have been reading up on some interesting stuff about KDE vs Gnome and
that the former uses QT for font rendering and the latter GTK. The
Firefox/Moz/Thund stable uses GTK fonts.

I saw a comment in the Ubuntu forum about "integrating" the Gnome and
KDE font environment. What was interesting though was one user saying
that all he had to do was open the Gnome control centre whilst using KDE
and afterwards everything seemed to work better (the main complaint
being horrible looking fonts). When I opened it and clicked on the Fonts
section, what fonts were in use by it shrunk slightly... Whether this is
important I dont know!

I am hoping that fiddling with the GNC has solved my problem, but the
jury is still out.
