Had this exact problem on my system as well! Never got GRUB to install when
doing a fresh install of SuSE! Tried to install it on both 9.0, and 9.1
(current system). I never did find out what the problem was, or even if
ver. 9.3 and 10 will give a better result! I asked on another (Norwegian)
usenet group for a solution but didn't get a satisfacory answer! I found it
easier to simply install LILO and be done with it! That, however, works
like a charm!
