Thanks Charles, but that doesn't work. Here's what I did:
Ran K3b setup
- checked "Use burning group"
- click "Apply"
- result - Error message saying there is no such group
Closed K3b setup
Created a group called burning
Added myself to the "burning" group
Re-ran K3b setup
- checked "Use burning group"
- click "Apply"
- the setup dialog closes
Tried to burn a CD
- hangs (just as it did when I tried to run as an ordinary user
previously), and has to be killed.
Checked the setup. It says (in the setup dialog):
- Devices
-- CD-R ...
--- Permissions 660 peter.disk
--- New Permissions 660 peter.burning
- External programs
-- cdrdao
--- Permissions 0755 root.root
--- New Permissions 750 root.burning
-- cdrecord
---Permissions 0755 root.root
--- New Permissions 750 root.burning
Applied the setup again. This time get a message saying permissions
changed.
Checked the setup. It now says (in the setup dialog):
- Devices
-- CD-R ...
--- Permissions 660 peter.burning
--- New Permissions no change
- External programs
-- cdrdao
--- Permissions 0750 root.burning
--- New Permissions no change
-- cdrecord
---Permissions 0750 root.burning
--- New Permissions no change
Ran K3b again and tried to burn a CD
- Hangs as before and has to be killed
Checked the permissions on the external programs:
- cdrdao
-- 750 root.burning
- cdrecord
-- 750 root.burning
Checked my account details
- I am a member of the "burning" group
Is there something I should have done that I've missed?
Thanks
Peter
