(1) starts up faster
(2) has more of the newest updated software versions
(3) programs that are installed work when mouse clicked on (system doesn't
hang in space looking for the program and never finding it, or just hanging
up.
(5) more program icons in the pop-up menu
(5) Looks a lot more polished overall.
(6) Most of all I wouldn't recommend it if it didn't seem to work better and
be more polished than 9.3.
Don't take my word for it and stay with what you are happy with. There are a
lot of skeptics out there and I can only say with my machine it shows much
improvement.
(7) I am continually playing around with Mepis (works beautifully but hasn't
got the latest leading edge updates from Debian repositories. (Synaptic
(apt) is a nice feature that I wish Suse would incooperate. (The synaptic
program is included in this version of Suse 10.0 but as to what and where
the repositories are that I'm to use with Suse is still not known to
me. )Yast is fine and works but I like the freedom to update all my
software on a continual basis. Not when Novell thinks it's ready for them
to market into a new version to sell everyone.
(9) I'm not a Gnome fan but had Ubuntu up and running on my system and it is
very polished and works right from the start. Whereas Kubuntu I have just
finished trying still doesn't work with my wifi card because bugs that are
still in the software. . . Can't figure out why Ubuntu works like a charm
with my Wifi connection and Kubuntu doesn't but it is software related
because the adminstrator mode in the menu system locks up and doesn't allow
me to change my settings in a relatively easy to do set up in Kubuntu. I
suspect that they are trying to play catch up with there final release.
Both verions I used were release candidates and not the final
releases. . .
