asus p4p800 e deluxe problem linux

Hello ( sorry I don't have a perfect english but I'm french )
I have a problem with the installation of mandriva ( 2005 ) and suse (
9.3 )on my pc
My motherboard is a p4p800 e deluxe and I try to install linux on a hard
disk ( ide ) which is connected on the promise controller ( pdc20378 )
and there is all time the same error ( irq 18 ) so this installation
freeze and i only can reboot my pc , the installation isn't possible
Please help me if you know a solution for my problem ( I'm a beginner an
I haven't found anything which could help me )
