My PC came with a SATA drive configured as RAID 1+0. I use that for

All is get is '/dev/xxx is not a valid block device.

For some reason, though the boot process sees the DVD drive & hwscan
sees it also, linux ignores it in practice. YaST doesn't know it's there
& refuses to configure it or load files from it. Despite all this, I
have installed additional software from DVD 1 in the 9.3 set in the past
& the /proc/ system has the correct info. Did this happen when I updated
the kernel (YOU has offered several kernel updates, all under the
heading of 'security').

Needless to say, as if mocking my efforts to move to linux, WinXP uses
it with no trouble at all! Oh, the perils of slighting M$.
