Not hardly.
Re-read that VERY succinct line up there escribing how working pros are...
"... focused on getting the job done in a streamlined way. It's not a world
where spending a lot of time exploring something new and experimental, for
the sake of doing that, is rewarded"
A professional who buys a work truck buys, say, a Ford 250 truck instead
of a kit-truck or off-brand NOT because 'the other guys are doing it' or
because of some imagined descent into a corporate mentality... but
because the Ford will absolutely do what he wants guaranteed,
it will NOT have a problem that can;t be fixed QUICKLY
with minimal downtime and
no surprises
by a large nation-wide service infrastructure and
it's a proven commodity that his clients EXPECT him to be that rock solid.
This is not rocket science.
Linux is wonderful and in a few years it will have shown its reliability and
will then HAVE this sort of reputation. It's building that now.
Whining only reenforces the down-side of it all.
These discussions really Do belong on the linux groups. When working sound
pros are interested, they know where to look for you for advice and, like
some have already, they'll beat a path to your door for the Better
Mousetrap!
In the meantime, try and keep from crossposting stuff out of the linux
realm, just like considerate others in, say, the Pro Horse trainers
newsgroups are not crossposting into Linux groups.
thanks
