I think I know what he means, if you use any app that requires root
authentication, there is a slight lag but this is merely the authentication
process and could be due to a more thorough authentication process.
Since I add a lot of sources to the Yast Package Manager, the new feature
of having it auto refresh is very nice. Auto refresh can be activated by
the button on the lower right when you are in the same tool where you add
sources.
Another nicety is being able to tweak freetype2 in the /etc/sysconfig
editor.
Most of the changes are not obvious at first. I run the 64 bit version and
GTK2 widgets were broken on half the gtk2 apps in 9.3 (64 bit version only)
meaning they would default rather than following KDE/QT. This has been
fixed in 10.
For those who do not know, SuSE released on the main mirrors, DVD iso
images of the complete product (possibly without some programs like Main
actor) as well as CD images. They are called "Eval" which only means you
get no support for free from them, it does NOT expire in any way. Of course
the live versions are there too if you want to try it without installing.
If you installed the OSS version, there is a yast supplementary install
source for things such as non gpl drivers and other things not in the OSS
version if you desire to make it into the regular 10 release.
Now my only gripe is my icons on Yast are too small, every thing else is
better.
